ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR
Join an Instructor Training Course (ITC) & earn your Assistant Instructor rating
In the past Divemasters traditionally progressed directly on to the become Instructors, however that is no longer the best way.
SSI's Instructor Training Course (ITC) is a 2-part process – the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Instructor (OWI) program.
You can chooose to complete the entire ITC in one go, and then attend an SSI Instructor Evaluation (IE), which is the final step to earn your Open Water Instructor certification.
Alternatively you can choose to progress at a slower pace, and start by taking the Assistant Instructor course. This is ideal for those who are still unsure if they want to become full-fledged Instructors & take on the full responsibility of training new divers, but are keen to better understand the process, and learn to teach existing divers further education and skill development programs.
When an Assistant Instructor feels they are ready to progress, attending an OWI program allows entry into an IE to earn the full SSI Open Water Instructor rating.
