Safety Snorkeller

Learn how to deal with in-water emergencies

The final “S” of our S-E-A-S program is “Safety”, and it is one of the key values we stick to at Aquatic Adventures – everything we do, no matter how advanced, must be safe!  This applies as much to snorkelling as it does to scuba, so we developed a specific “Safety Snorkeler” course to teach the skills necessary to deal with emergency situations, should they arise.

  • THEORY – Planning and assessment play a major role in engineering out possible problems from snorkelling sessions.  During an evening/after-work theory session, we’ll discuss methods to do exactly that, and review the various techniques needed to complete a rescue.
  • POOL TRAINING – Practicing in the pool gives us “perfect” conditions with which to try different techniques and work out what the best ways are to rescue different types of people and to cover different situations.
  • OPEN WATER SNORKEL – We’ll finalise the training by running a series of open water scenarios, where we put what we learned in the pool to the test, and learn the adjustments necessary for accommodating the more varied conditions of the ocean.
