Aquatic Adventures develops its own conservation training around the environments, species and management challenges we encounter here in Victoria. These programs combine environmental knowledge with practical skills that can be applied during surveys, monitoring and authorised conservation activities.

Marine Debris Management
Understand the problem. Learn to remove it responsibly.
Explore how marine debris enters aquatic environments, the impacts it has on wildlife and habitats, and how divers and snorkellers can contribute to effective removal and monitoring. Training covers safe collection, classification, recording and responsible handling of recovered debris.

Invasive Species Management
Recognise invasive species and understand how they are managed.
Learn about marine invasive species found in Victorian waters, how they spread, the ecological impacts they can cause, and the role trained community participants can play in surveillance and management programs. Training includes identification, biosecurity, reporting and appropriate collection practices.
Physical removal activities are undertaken only where appropriate permits, approvals and project supervision are in place.

Survey Diving
Turn observations into useful information.
Learn the fundamentals of structured underwater environmental surveys, including careful observation, repeatable methods, transects, quadrats, photographic monitoring, recording observations and maintaining data quality while minimising environmental impact.

Urchin Barren Management
Understand the relationship between urchins, reefs and kelp forests.
Explore the ecological processes that can lead to urchin barrens, how changing urchin abundance affects reef habitats, and the monitoring and management approaches used to support healthier reef ecosystems.
Practical management activities are undertaken only as part of appropriately authorised projects.

Sea Kelp Restoration
Learn how Victoria's underwater forests can recover.
Explore the ecology of local kelp forests, the pressures contributing to their decline and the different approaches being tested to protect and restore them. Learn how monitoring, research and community participation can contribute to the recovery of important species such as Ecklonia radiata.

Meet some of Victoria's most distinctive marine animals.
Develop your understanding of seahorses, pipefish and seadragons, including their biology, habitat requirements, behaviour and conservation challenges. Learn responsible observation and survey techniques that allow these remarkable animals to be studied without unnecessary disturbance.

Discover the intelligence and adaptability of cephalopods.
Explore the biology, behaviour and ecology of Victoria's octopuses, squid and cuttlefish. Learn how to recognise common groups, interpret behaviour and observe these animals responsibly in their natural environment.

Our Aquaholics Partnership
Aquaholics Club Inc. is an independently governed incorporated not-for-profit. Aquatic Adventures is a longstanding project and training partner.
Aquatic Adventures develops and delivers the training. Aquaholics activities may provide opportunities for appropriately trained participants to apply relevant skills during citizen-science or conservation projects. Purchasing an AA course does not guarantee participation in an Aquaholics activity.
